Book Spotlight: Powderpuff!

By Akira B.

Welcome or welcome back!

I know, I know. It's been awhile since we've done one of these despite all the things happening at the press. (I'm only one guy and there's a lot of plates spinning, some of them are bound to be set down. But hey! None of them crashed!)

Blog gets first dibs on the the news again! So let's talk about the upcoming book:

Powderpuff! (Ansley Earle )

120 pages

Full Color

Genre: Magical Kids

Rating: All

PowderPuff!

The animosity between Piddleton Middle's football and cheer team reaches new heights when they are granted powers by the spirits of Good & Evil. Their social standings crumble as their respective negative qualities are exposed through battle, teaching them and the readers the importance of self reflection.

So what happens when you give a bunch of middle schoolers powers? Chaos, that's for sure!

And a sneak peek at the first few pages below:

PowderPuff! will debut with preorders AND digital copies September 3rd, 2026! (Right around football season even, hah) Get hype, tell your friends, your neighbors, your enemies, and your local comic shops!

That's not all that's happening! We have a few quick updates too:

  • If you haven't read WildStar's latest statement about the state of affairs for 2027

  • Online Publications!

    • And if you've read our statement, you know that we're looking for writers! Do you love indie stories? Are you someone who wants to share their writing with the masses to uplift stories that you think deserve to be heard? Do you want to open the door for others to make being apart of this artistic community easier? If you answered yes to these then this might be for you!

    • At present, this will be a volunteer position for those looking to get their writing out to the world. We are looking for writers with an engaging style with the ability to understand, critique, and analyze comics and prose on a level that compels audiences. We are looking for writers committed to spotlighting areas of the comics industry that may go under the radar and/or that you're simply passionate about. We are looking for writers that understand the ethos of what WildStar Press is about.

    • How To Apply:

      • Email us at info@wildstarpress.com.

      • Subject: Name of Publication you're interested in writing for [whether that's Review Starlight, Morning Dew, or Curiosity's Corner] - Writer Application - Name.

      • Body: Resume, two (2) writing samples (it doesn't need to be professionally published), why you are interested in WildStar Press and why you believe you're a good fit for the team.

Oh and another thing:

  • WildStar Press is going to SLICE!

    • We hope to see you there!

An old message, but a prevalent one no less:

We're in a time where more and more indie publishers are cropping up in light of larger industries failures, and as you all know, like the rest, we rely on all of your support to keep our vision alive. So this is a reminder that we appreciate you sticking with us for this long and seeing us grow this far. Even if we slow down here and there, we don't have any plans on stopping.

If you'd like to further support us here's a few ways to do that:

  • Tell your local comic shops about us! WildStar Press offers a Retailer Discount for shops that want to purchase are books.

  • Tell your friends! There's a comic for everyone here and we're trying to get these comics in everyone's hands.

  • Donate! We have a Ko-Fi page! All proceeds go back into the Press website maintenance, book printing, and more!

We're continuously grateful for all of your support whether it's been through purchasing books or sharing them across platforms. I (Akira again) want to see WildStar Press grow to really make a difference in our community, and I'm glad you're helping me along the way. Thanks.

Until next time, see you in the stars 🌟
